Functional Areas

Introduction

The main functional areas of a business are outlined below. In some businesses, these areas will be looked after by different, and separate, departments. For example, there may be a Marketing Department, a Human Resources Department and a Customer Service Department. Each department would have specialist managers and specialist staff with specialist job descriptions. Some examples are given below.

In many businesses, however, these jobs are still carried out, but not necessarily in separate departments. Cameron Balloons has to carry out all of the functions, but does not have all of them in separate departments.
